Wir Hier - Michikazu Matsune

What does the district of Favoriten sound like? And what stories are hidden in the favorite songs of the people who live there?

For the project 'Favourite Songs of Favoriten', Michikazu Matsune spent several weeks interviewing passersby, residents, and visitors of Vienna’s 10th district about their favorite songs and what they mean to them. Once again, the artist uses small talk as an artistic practice, creating space for everyday encounters, spontaneous communication — and for sharing music as an expression of one’s own life.

The results will finally be presented for one week at stand 129 of the Viktor-Adler-Markt. Here, visitors can explore the archive, share songs, or embark on an individual music walk through Favoriten using their own mobile phone and headphones.

‘Wir Hier’ is a series of artistic interventions in public space that places the focus on togetherness in a (urban) society — and, more specifically, in Vienna.
