Wir Hier - Asma Aiad
‘OIDA WIEN. HÖR ZU.’ is a multimedia street-art project in public space, realized on the walls of Schwendermarkt in the 15th district — the area where the artist Asma Aiad grew up. Large-scale portraits depict people who help shape Vienna — some well-known, others barely visible — but all with stories that are rarely told.
Amid the hustle and bustle of the market, photographs meet text, ornaments, and digital visual elements. Between the portraits, hand-written messages appear — pointed, heartfelt, and created by illustrator Esma Bošnjaković, also known as Strudelworte. Through QR codes, passersby gain access to real voice messages from the people depicted, offering unexpected perspectives. ‘OIDA WIEN. HÖR ZU.’ is a statement for a Vienna that makes room: for diversity, for ambivalence, for more than just one story per person.
‘Wir Hier’ is a series of artistic interventions in public space that places the focus on togetherness in a (urban) society — and, more specifically, in Vienna.

DESTRUCTION OF 'OIDA WIEN. HÖR ZU.'
Only six days after its opening, the project 'OIDA WIEN. HÖR ZU.' was completely removed by unknown individuals. For the remainder of the project’s duration, we are transforming Schwendermarkt into a space for questioning and engaging with this deliberate erasure.
