Wandertag #7
In his practice, Jojo Gronostay deals with questions of identity and representation, often exploring boundaries between fashion, consumerism, and art.
For Wandertag, Gronostay occupies a well-known Viennese shopping street to stage an artistic form of advertising campaign titled 'An impressionistic travel journal'. Over a period of two weeks, Gronostay will interfere with the visual space of the shopping street and focus on perfume - a coveted collectible that stands for luxury and brings glamour to one's home. Signs fixed to street lamps show black-and-white photographs of restaged perfume bottles combined with text panels of fragmented advertising slogans from the perfume world.
Wandertag is a project series highlighting solo presentations in public space. Whether an industrial area, the shop window of a car dealer, a house facade or a public observatory - each location offers a new approach to the artistic practice of the invited artists as well as unusual views of Vienna. Each Wandertag is accompanied by its own walking route that visitors can follow either on guided tours or on their own.
